Bed-der late than never

Two months after the Fab Four climbed out of their cribs and turned bedtime upside down (literally, for Isaac), they finally have real beds! The plain white toddler cots are made by KidKraft, and Ted was able to put all four of them together by himself in one afternoon—well, a week and an afternoon, as three out of four had damaged parts when we received them and we had to wait for replacements (boo for poor craftsmanship, yay for great customer service!).

Here are the kids seeing their new sleeping arrangements for the first time right before bed last night:

Ted and I thought we might be in for a long night of the kids adjusting to being in beds, as opposed to being confined to a crib or laying on a mattress on the floor, but we needn't have worried. They went right to sleep (even sleeping through the horrible thunderstorms that rolled through in the middle of the night), and then slept in a little later than usual this morning; their first nap in their beds has also been a merciful success. I think they like having their own defined space—boundaries are hard to come by when you're a quadruplet!

Many thanks to our abuelitos and Grandma and Grandpa T, without whom the Fab Four might have been sleeping on the floor for many more months to come!

That's so great! They actually fit all in a row--I'm impressed.

Congrats... Thats good they took to them well on the first day/night. We have 3 boys that have their own room with their toddler beds lined up just like that and Elizabeth has her own room. The first night the boys had no problems, but Elizabeth threw a fit for about an hour before going sleep. That continued for about 2 weeks, then boys started to realize they can get backup after the lights and door is shut. Thats right we had to start shutting the door, or they'd wonder out into the living room. They haven't quite mastered our door knobs yet, but they do know how to lock you out of their room lol.. Its been about a month and a half now since the transition and all is well.

Oh, we have ALWAYS shut the kids' door ... even when they were in cribs, just to keep out light and noise (we have a really small house). The big deal will be when we decide *not* to shut their door. :)

My kids loved the ownership that came with their 'big kid' beds. I was thankful for that since it's a scary transition for us parents. lol

I love the beds! SO cute! Are they staying in them? Do they have a party in there after you shut the door?

They LOVE the beds. They instantly took to them, and they STAY in them. We haven't had any problems at all. I think they are just so happy to have their own space!
