Third trimester, here we come!

Today marks the close of my 28th week, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief: If the babies were to be delivered now, they'd have an excellent chance of not just surviving, but doing so without major health issues. Praise God! That said, we are so thankful that the babies continue to stay put—there's a reason that it takes 40 weeks to grow a singleton, so we'd really like to get as close to that as possible (without endangering me or the Fab Four, of course). Dr. S now seems to think I will have no problem getting to 34 weeks; in fact, on Friday he joked about how he thinks he can take me to 38 weeks! (I laughed and told him that would be fine as long as I got to do some of that time at home.)

As much as I want the babies to do their maturing while still in utero, though, I must admit that I dread the aches and pains associated with them running out of room in my short-girl torso. The boys haven't given me too many problems yet, but the girls are already demanding more space. For a couple of weeks now, Baby D has been positioned so deep in my pelvis that when she kicks, it feels like she is in my leg! And for the past two days, Baby C's head has been directly under my right ribcage, making it impossible for me to find a comfortable position in my hospital bed (not that it was very comfortable to begin with). Poor squished babies! I am starting to think that Dr. E's repeated suggestion of putting me on the rack to stretch me out a bit might not be such a bad idea after all ...

Yay Suzy! I'm thrilled (not as much as you, though) that you have made it this far. Hang in there, my friend. I can't imagine your "lack of comfort", but keep your chin up; you look amazing!

Dr. S liked to tease me with that 38 week garbage too. =) Easy for him to say, when he's the one bouncing around the halls sipping his coffee and vacationing in Mexico.

I've been thinking of you oh so much. Brad and I cheered out load for your 28th week milestone! Hope you are celebrating tonight (at least with a milkshake). After I get over a nice little cold, I'll be paying you another visit. Stay put until then, missy!

Hugs,

That's so great that you've surpassed 28 weeks! Nice work!! Way to keep those kids in line. ;)

Funny that the girls are the ones causing the issues, and the boys are happy to be a little squished in there! I would have guessed the opposite.

Are you going to get to eat Thanksgiving dinner next week somehow???

That's so terrific! We are so happy that you made it to this major milestone. :-) Hope you're able to keep them where they need to be for a few more weeks, but at least you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing you made to this point. So happy for you guys. :-)

i've been checking your blog and holding my breath until this point.

i'd like to give you the traditional jewish blessing you say to a pregnant woman, because it's just so appropriate for you: "b'sha-ah tovah!"

it literally means, "in good time." it's a wish for things to happen at the right time, the best time possible for them to happen, whatever that may be. these babies will wait until the right time to come.
