Wasteland no more

Until recently, our backyard was a veritable toddler wasteland, barren of toys or anything else remotely fun. Thanks to a new-to-us picnic table and climb-and-slide, though, we are now well on the way to creating a great place for the Fab Four to get some fresh air and—most importantly—burn. off. some. ENERGY!

We introduced the kids to their new toys over the long weekend. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as Ted unceremoniously initiated Isaac on the slide, Jude refused to walk in the grass, Dahlia tried to escape, and Lucy made sure that she was a part of the action. Never a dull moment!

  1. Oh, I'm so jealous! I really need to step up my efforts to outfit our backyard for the kids. It's currently ... a wasteland, as you call it! And was that Lucy saying, "Dahlia! Dahlia!"?? That's sure what it sounded like!

  2. Does Ted also belong to the school of "you'll learn to swim when I just toss you in the water?" :)

  3. this is possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen!!!!!!!! I love how Juders is by the window... watching from afar. Lucy does a mini freak-out. Dahlia wants to run around and Isaac didn't know what to think of the whole "free falling" thing! hahaha

  4. Megan: Yep, Lucy was saying Dahlia *and* Jude in the video. :)

Heather: HA!! Maybe I should be the one to teach them to swim. :)

Glenda: Jude would not move! He hates the grass! It's so funny!

  5. Wee! I think I had as much fun watching this as if I were sliding down myself!

  6. If you have any daredevils like I do at my house, they will be climbing and sliding like pros in no time! Hope some of these new ones are more calm than the one I have or I will never be able to run fast enough to keep them all safe from themselves!

  7. Ha. We have the "Ghetto" version of this toy. OUrs does not have the top/roof part. We now have a water table, this thing, and a plastic play house (that a nieghbor gave us)... our back yard is starting to look like a daycare. Now, if we could just get our fence built.

  8. So glad to see that you're getting good use out of it! It was wasting away in our yard!
