Vowel-uable knowledge

Remember how, once upon a time, I was sure that my babies were geniuses? Well, more than a year later, I am still not convinced otherwise.

Case in point: Dahlia, at the tender age of 18 months, already knows her vowels. It's true! Just try to tell me that she does not recite "a-e-i-o-u" at least once (possibly with a Spanish accent) while reading aloud from Dr. Seuss:

And, let's face it, it takes a beautiful mind to create an ensemble such as this:

Einstein himself couldn't have pulled off this look!

  2. Been reading your blog off and on for awhile, but I don't believe I've ever commented...

She absolutely said the vowels with a beautiful Spanish accent :) Genius, indeed. I learned how to read at 2 1/2, she seems to be on the same path!

Also, random, but I believe we have a mutual friend, Jill Holbert McKinney! And I think you may have delivered at Women's? I volunteer in the NICU there and every time a set of quads has been born (2 since November!), the nurses reminisce and your family name seems familiar!

You have a beautiful family, hope you all are having a great summer!

  3. Jessica, that's what all our books look like. Jude likes to eat them, much to my continuing despair! :)

Marianne, thanks for commenting! What a small world!! Tell the NICU nurses we said hi ... we didn't have to stay there too long, thank goodness!

  4. clearly a genius! Just hope she continues to use this genius for good and not evil (like my little stinkers are trying out!)

Love the ensemble!! One must take fashion risks!

  5. Love this video and the picture is too adorable! I just saw your comment on my blog -- they are trying to get them all on a 4 hour schedule, I should have specified. Ad lib for Liam seems to be about every 4 hours. I think they actually aren't eating so well (on 3 hours) because they had to eat 24 calorie formula and weren't even hungry that often so they weren't hitting 100%.

Now his natural rhythm appears to be 4 hours. But I am sure the joke's on me once they all get home lol.

  6. Sonja, if they can come home on a 4-hr. schedule for you, that would be awesome!!! I think I cried with happiness when the ped said we could start trying to stretch them to 4 hours. :)
